Who We Are AkA Energy Efficient Home Services is a fully certified and accredited independent auditing company whose objective is to give you the home owner and our customer the best information based on informed science and experience. With this information, together we can create a strategy for achieving energy efficiency for your home and comfort. Whether your goal is to save a few dollars a year or to become your own energy company we can skillfully achieve your objectives.	More than 75,000 families have had their homes improved through Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving energy efficiency and home comfort, while helping to protect the environment. These families are enjoying benefits like, fewer drafts, consistent temperatures across rooms, better ventilation and humidity control, and lower utility bills.
What are the steps of the audit? 1. We have a discussion as to your objectives in having the audit done. Either on the phone, by email, video conversation or in person. This takes 30 minutes to an hour. Set a time for the audit. 2. Perform the audit, this will take 2 to 3 hours. Usually this is done with you, the home owner, participating with us in the process so you can learn what we are looking at, why it needs to be fixed and how. 3. We come back in 3 to 5 days with a report, called a "Scope of Work". In this SOW we will list the items we talked about in the audit and show photographs to remind us of exactly what is wrong so that when it is fixed you can see the difference. We review with you the strategy that will take care of these issues. Part of the strategy is to supply you with timelines and bids on the work so you can determine your course of action. 4. When work is done we come back and do the "test out". This test is for your protection and verification that the work was done correctly and safely. 5. Send paperwork into the utility company for rebate. Usually within the next billing cycle.	All-Righty Independence BRAND NEW "HELP" LOAN PROGRAM Independence HELP is a partnership between the City of Independence Power & Light Department (IPL), City Credit Union and the Metropolitan Energy Center to provide low-interest loans for eligible energy efficiency measures. HELP is supported with $250,000 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 and is subject to change without notice. Those who may qualify: include owner-occupants of residences located in the City of Independence qualify for the program. The residence must have four dwelling units or less. The loan applicant must own the entire residence and occupy at least one dwelling unit. Non-residential properties, multi-unit apartment buildings and mobile homes do not qualify. Residents who qualify for free or lower cost weatherization programs are encouraged to take advantage of those programs before seeking loans through Independence HELP. 			This sounds like a Fairy Tale But the story is very true! Our customer lives in a home office combination of about 3000 sq. ft. His monthly utility bills have been in the $550 to $600 range. After we performed an extensive audit and created a strategy for achieving energy efficiency. Our customer chose to invest in his own home. He invested $55,000 in becoming his own utility company. He did everything, new insulation, new windows, new doors and a solar electric system. As a result his utility bills have now been between $30.00 and $40.00 per month. His thoughts, “Where in this economy can I get that kind of a return?” Think about it!! Why not YOU, NOW! That is saving $500.00 per month for 12 months for say 10 years or $60,000.00 Plus savings of 8% per year add on to electric bill that is $500.00 per month or $6000 per year in 10 years is now.......... 12,953.55 per year or $1079.46 per month!
